Goring Free Church records all its services and publishes the messages online each week. Recordings of other parts of the services are available on request, such as children’s talks or talks by visiting mission partners, or special services such as a thanksgiving.
Update to sermon management system (9 December)
A new version of the sermon management system has been installed. The main new features are:
- There is a new search box at the top of the main sidebar which works across the whole site but can also be used to search for messages by Bible text. This can include chapters and even the start verse or full text (if using these, or if the book is prefixed with a number, the search needs to be enclosed in quotes). E.g. “Genesis 2:1” finds the morning sermon of 3 December. Note that search results may include unrelated pages as well as the messages and they are paginated.
- A download link with a small icon (no longter a button) is available on all screen sizes.
- The Series Archives page now has a feature to list all sermons regardless of series. This has a new grid view which identifies the series by its graphic.
- There is an extra large font view on very wide screens, and for smaller screens, the pages have been brought in line with the rest of the site to start using mobile views at the same screen sizes.
If there any problems are spotted following this upgrade then please advise the leaders or use the contact form.
Messages on the website
All the messages uploaded to the previous website since 2007 have been transferred across. They are still organised into series and the system still has features to navigate to other series, or messages from specific preachers or Bible book, and has a BibleGateway link for the passage. Series are now grouped into type such as morning, evening, visiting preachers etc. and the drop-down lists of other preachers, books etc at the top of each series on the page are specific to that series type. E.g. a morning series will only have a drop-down list of other morning series, preachers etc. There is also an overall series archive page.
Some modern desktop browsers do not offer built-in formatting any more: examples are Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Users will need to download an app or an extension of their choice. In Chrome just type “chrome:extensions”, scroll down to “Get more extensions” and search for “RSS”. Mircrosoft Edge also supports viewing RSS feeds in Internet Explorer by clicking on the three dots in the top right hand corner and choosing this option.
Photos are taken at many church events including King’s Club and there are usually displays of the photo prints for various activities inside the church and hall. All of these are on display when the church is open during the Christmas Shopping Evening. Occasionally a slideshow of a particular event is shown in the church on the screen during the period before a service begins. A slideshow of King’s Club is also published online, subject to permission obtained at the start of the event.
