The Ladies Breakfast Book Club was started in early 2014 with the intention of bringing together ladies of all ages to discuss Christian books of different styles and genres. We meet from 8:30 – 10:00 am on a Saturday morning every few weeks for coffee, croissants, fellowship and, of course, conversations about our latest book.

We are currently reading Catching Contentment by Liz Carter. We will be discussing this book at our next meeting, on 28 November 2020.
Catching Contentment is an extended commentary on St Paul’s words in Philippians 4:12, where the apostle says: ”I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” This is a lesson that many of us take a whole lifetime to learn, but Catching Contentment book is likely to prove a useful guide along the way.
Its author, Liz Carter, is well qualified to write about Christian living in difficult circumstances, as her life has been dogged by chronic ill health including a serious lung condition. It is easy to worship God and affirm the Christian faith when you are in good health, and things are going well, but Liz has had to learn to practice her faith in very difficult circumstances when it might have been easy to give up on God altogether.
