Preschool Groups

Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to run our groups (listed below). However, we are trialling some new activities this autumn.

Click here to find out more.

Baby Group

Friday 10.00 am – 12.00 noon. Term time only.

bbbThis is a very informal group and arriving anytime between 10.00-12.00 noon is absolutely fine!

We drink tea and coffee, eat toast and biscuits and chat, and hopefully get to know new friends! This group started in 2004 when it became apparent that the Toddler Group was bursting at the seams and a lot of mums wanted a quieter atmosphere to talk about relevant baby things.

Each week we ask you to sign the attendance book and for a £1.50 donation to help cover our costs. If you plan to attend this group on a regular basis we also ask you to complete a registration form.

When your baby starts to walk unaided, it is then time to move up to our Toddler Group where there is more action!

As a church, we have a safety policy which you will find at the bottom of this page. We would be very grateful if you would familiarise yourself with that if you are planning to attend.

“This is such a warm and welcoming group. It was the only group I came to with my first baby and I’ve made so many friends here since. I cannot recommend it enough!”

Toddler Group

Tuesday 9.30 – 11.30 am. Term time only.

ToddlersWe have a variety of toys, dressing-up clothes, puzzles, colouring, play tents … to name but a few of our activities!
Our aim is to provide a safe environment for you to come and relax, chat and make friends.
On arrival we ask you to sign the attendance book and indicate if your toddler has a drinks preference. We ask for a £1.50 donation (per family).  If you plan to attend this group on a regular basis we also ask you to complete a registration form.

The structure of the morning is free play (drinks for mums on arrival) and at about 10.30 the children sit around the table for juice/water and biscuits. Normally at about 11.00 we all sit in a large circle for singing time! We are always grateful to those who help to tidy away the toys prior to leaving at 11.30!

As a church, we have a safety policy which you will find at the bottom of this page. We would be very grateful if you would familiarise yourself with that if you are planning to attend.

“We are very lucky to have this amazing group in our village.”

“Toddler Group is a lovely morning setting. The children are so happy. The staff helpers are lovely too.”

Busy Bees

Monday 9.30 – 11 am. Term time only.

Busy BeesBusy Bees is for children between the ages of 3 and 4.

This is an activity-based structured session including educational activities, songs, keep fit, Bible story and craft. The group has a distinctive Christian flavour and is ideal for those children that need lots of stimulation. Parents/carers need to accompany their children but we do provide childcare for younger siblings. The charge is £2 per session, which includes refreshments for everyone!

Booking is required for this group so please get in touch via the website.

As a church, we have a safety policy which you will find at the bottom of this page. We would be very grateful if you would familiarise yourself with that if you are planning to attend.

“Busy Bees is a wonderful service for the community. My daughter loves coming every week.”

“We love going to Busy Bees! It’s such a fun, caring and friendly place to be and is run by a lovely group of people.”

“Great way to meet other children and parents. Fantastic activities too – dancing, bible story (in an accessible way) and brilliant crafts.”

“Who Let The Dads Out?”

Occasional Saturday mornings (one a term), 9am-11am.

Dates for the 2019/20 academic year:

  • Saturday 23 November
  • Saturday 25 January
  • Saturday 25 April

Many dads and other male carers aren’t around during the week to experience the various preschool groups in the village, and it can be difficult to get to know other dads.  This group was set up early in 2017 to provide an opportunity for dads, grandads and other male carers to enjoy some active fun with their preschool children, and maybe give the mums some time to themselves!  The activities are specially geared towards children in the Toddlers and Busy Bees age ranges:

Ball pit (toddlers upwards)
Bouncy castle (2-4yr olds)
Bacon butties* (for all, especially dads!)

All dads and preschool walkers are welcome – no previous connection with GFC preschool groups necessary. Just turn up at any time between 9am and 11am.  Suggested donation £3 per family.

As a church, we have a safety policy which you will find at the bottom of this page. We would be very grateful if you would familiarise yourself with that if you are planning to attend.

*Vegetarian option also available.

ATTENDANCE
We do ask that parents/carers complete a registration form for each group so that we can contact you in the event of any alteration to our programme or if you leave something behind! All information is stored safely on the church premises.

PHOTOGRAPHS
Occasionally photographs taken at these groups are displayed on our church notice board, or on our church website (no names are used). If you do not want photographs of your child(ren) used in this way you must let your session leader know.

SAFETY
Our groups are fully insured but each adult is responsible for their own child/children. Please familiarise yourself with the fire procedures located on the hall hatch doors in the small hall or on the Toddler Group notice board. Smoking is not allowed on the premises. Please ensure that you close stair gates behind you to prevent escapees! The buggy park and toilet area has doors that lead onto the High Street so please be extra careful when supervising you child(ren) in this area. Please keep hot drinks out of the reach of children.
