BRIDGING THE GAP 2008

Is the Bible simply a piece of historical literature or does it contain a message that is applicable to our C21st western world? Bridging the Gap seeks to bring well-known Bible teachers into this part of the Thames Valley with the aim of bridging the gap between the Word of God and the World of Today. Bridging the gap will offer biblical, practical, high quality teaching, which will be accessible to all who want to grow in their Christian faith.

The second of these annual events was held on the evenings of 8 & 9 September 2008 in Goring Free Church. It gave Christians from within the locality an opportunity to enjoy meeting together whilst hearing Dr Steve Lloyd of Biblical Creation Ministries speak on the subject ‘Is nature designed for a purpose?’ on Monday; and Joseph Steinberg from the Church Mission Society speak about ‘Walking with God in Mission’ on Tuesday.

‘Is nature designed for a purpose?’ On Monday 8 September Steve Lloyd’s perceptive talk showed with precision and humour that life on earth on a microscopic scale was designed rather than a product of chance.
Excerpts from the DVD "Unlocking the Mysteries of Life" available from www.truthinscience.org.uk were shown during the talk.

‘Walking with God in Mission – A Journey in Faith.’ On Tuesday 9 September, Joseph Steinberg, brought up in a Jewish family, became a Christian at an early age after one of his school friends told him about the Christian faith. Being a Christian in a non-Christian family gave him an insight into missionary work, and he used the example of Abraham’s journey to the promised land to illustrate his own journey of faith.
